The Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Institute for Sustainable Development at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) are inviting applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position, jointly appointed between both units.

The selected candidate will develop an independent, interdisciplinary and productive research program addressing fundamental and/or applied questions at the interface between biology and sustainability.

The research

The position is open to research addressing complex socio-environmental challenges, including areas such as:

  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Socioecology
  • Ecological restoration
  • Climate change adaptation
  • Ocean sustainability
  • Other areas at the interface between biology and sustainability

The position aims to strengthen institutional capacity to address complex sustainability challenges by integrating the rigor of biological sciences with interdisciplinary perspectives on sustainability.

Academic responsibilities

The selected candidate will contribute to:

  • Developing an independent research program.
  • Conducting high-quality and productive research.
  • Contributing to research activities within the Faculty of Biological Sciences.
  • Teaching and training students in biological sciences.
  • Contributing to sustainability education programs at UC.
  • Developing interdisciplinary collaborations.
