About the position

The Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) is looking for an Administrative Technician to join its Corporate Proximity Services team at the Lleida Fruitcentre in Catalonia, Spain.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support to staff at the research centre across several areas, including finance, procurement, logistics, human resources, research projects and institutional activities.

This is a research support position rather than a research role, making it particularly relevant for professionals interested in working within a scientific and research environment.

Main responsibilities

The position includes a broad range of administrative and operational responsibilities, including:

  • Providing reception and administrative support to staff and visitors.
  • Managing meeting rooms, bookings, catering and related services.
  • Supporting technology transfer activities and the organization of scientific and institutional events.
  • Managing procurement requests, suppliers, orders, invoices and petty cash.
  • Supporting annual accounting procedures and inventory management.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements and vehicle-related administrative procedures.
  • Preparing documentation for national and international shipments.
  • Supporting human resources procedures, including staff onboarding, employment documentation and contracts.
  • Supporting administrative procedures related to international staff and immigration documentation.
  • Assisting with occupational health and safety procedures, including medical examinations, accident and incident management and PPE records.
  • Supporting the organization of events and activities at the research centre.
  • Providing administrative support to the centre’s management team.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A vocational training qualification in Administration or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in similar administrative responsibilities.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • High proficiency in Catalan and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • The ability to work in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • A service-oriented approach and attention to detail and quality.

Additional qualifications

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • Additional or higher education related to the position.
  • Previous experience working in research organizations or agrifood companies.
  • Training in occupational health and safety.
  • Intermediate-level English.

Employment conditions

IRTA offers a permanent contract with a 37.5-hour working week.

Additional employment conditions include:

  • Friday afternoons off.
  • Intensive working hours from June 15 to September 15.
